Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a tight third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
