A person who contaminated sweets with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two young males who were between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated Ruben proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She said Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
